Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
