Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
