Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
