Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
