Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
