Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
